Technical Difficulties
December 15th, 2004Don't you just hate it when your husband does a major upgrade and switches from Gentoo to Fedora, and you lose your .bashrc file (and all your aliases), the scroll wheel on the mouse now pulls up menus and acts as a middle-click (paste) instead of scrolling, Mozilla won't let you have your email or resize fonts, you can't print or access the CD drive or even the sound card, all your preferences for everything have gone away, and your husband falls asleep before you can complain?
Yeah, me too.
Fortunately, said husband is awesome and had almost all of it fixed before leaving for work the next day. The web stuff didn't get fixed until today.

Hello, World!
August 24th, 2004Last night I was making my rounds of blogs and got the fright of my life. I was at HijabMan's site and saw, in his sidebar, this little link to AtomsIntoSuns. Yikes! I figured people would eventually follow referrer logs and find me somehow, but I was in a sort of denial about anyone doing it this soon -- let alone linking to me. I guess this means I should actually start adding content or something. Thanks to HijabMan for adding the link!
Now what?
July 12th, 2004After a while of tinkering, I've pretty much gotten this site to where I'm not completely embarrassed having people see it. It's still not pretty, but at least it's presentable. I'll be tinkering with it more, of course.
Oh, and in case anyone actually reads back, Yes, I know. I do still have a bit of a hangup about the whole blogging phenomenon, I guess, but I'm gradually getting over that. And being able to change my mind is part of what makes me human. So there.
Still here
July 8th, 2004Heaven forbid anyone has actually found this page and is trying to make sense of it, but if you are, rest assured that I'm playing around, trying to get the style sheets right and the layout just so. Then I'll actually add content.
Ahoy!
January 25th, 2004Okay, after nearly four years, I figure it's time to put some content on this page.
This site, uncultured.org, was originally intended to be a site for rants, calls to action, and calls to look at the absurdity around us. We registered the domain name in April of 2000 and haven't done a thing with it since. Finally, I'm ready to start adding content to it, but, well, nowadays everyone's got a site now devoted to rants, calls to action, and such. I feel like I'm just jumping on the bandwagon. Oh well, I guess.
You see, I hate doing trendy things just to be trendy. In fact, I hate doing trendy things at all, even when it's something I wanted to do anyway.
In any case, it won't have a typical blog format and won't be "powered by" any blogging software, but this is now my place to spit out whatever's on my mind.
I'd love to make it more interesting than just another blog/rant page, though, and would love to hear thoughts and suggestions on what to do with it. Let me know if you have any great ideas.
